Access to Care for Dental Phobia Patients

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures, making treatment more comfortable for those with dental anxiety or fear. From mild relaxation to deeper sedative states, different sedation levels can be tailored to match your anxiety level and treatment complexity, ensuring you receive necessary care without stress or discomfort.

While currently in development at our practice, our sedation dentistry program will focus on creating a judgment-free environment where patients with dental anxiety can receive care comfortably. Many patients with dental phobia postpone necessary treatment, leading to more serious problems that require more extensive intervention. Sedation options break this cycle by making routine preventive care accessible and comfortable.

Our goal is to eventually offer several sedation approaches ranging from mild nitrous oxide to deeper sedation options, allowing us to customize the experience based on your specific needs and the complexity of your treatment.

Compassionate, Understanding Team

While we're still developing our formal sedation program, Harbison Dental Group already prioritizes patient comfort through a compassionate, patient-centered approach. We understand that dental anxiety is real and common, affecting millions of patients worldwide. Our doctors and team take time to listen to your concerns, thoroughly explain procedures, and ensure you feel in control of your treatment experience.

Our multilingual team helps bridge communication gaps, ensuring all patients fully understand their treatment options regardless of language barriers. This clear communication is often the first step in reducing dental anxiety. We also create a calm, welcoming office environment and offer amenities designed to help you feel at ease during your visit.

As we develop our sedation protocols, we're focusing on comprehensive training and safety protocols to ensure the highest standard of care. Our goal is to provide a range of comfort options that allow even the most anxious patients to receive the dental care they need while feeling safe and respected.

Nitrous Oxide

Often called "laughing gas," nitrous oxide provides mild relaxation without putting you to sleep. This gentle sedative is mixed with oxygen and administered through a comfortable nose mask, taking effect within minutes. Patients remain conscious and able to communicate but experience reduced anxiety and increased comfort. Once the gas is turned off, the effects wear off quickly, allowing you to drive yourself home and resume normal activities immediately. This makes nitrous oxide an excellent option for patients with mild to moderate anxiety who need to return to work or other responsibilities after treatment.
